Researching Transformational Leadership and Information Technology, the President Director of PT Pupuk Kaltim Passed the Doctoral Examination

The final session of the Dissertation Ir. Achmad Bakir Pasaman, MM., MH., from the Administrative Science Doctoral Program, Faculty of Administrative Sciences (FIA) Universitas Brawijaya (UB) has been completed, on Friday (21/12). Bakir who is the Main Director of PT Pupuk Kaltim explained his research on "The Influence of Transformational Leadership and Information Technology on Organizational Learning and Organizational Change and Their Impact on Employee Job Satisfaction (Study on Employees of PT Pupuk Kaltim 2018)."

In his study, Bakir said there was a purpose to test and explain the effect of various variables, including Transformational Leadership on Organizational Learning, Transformational Leadership on Organizational Change, Transformational Leadership on Employee Job Satisfaction, Organizational Learning on Organizational Change, Information Technology on Organizational Learning, Information Technology on Organizational Change, Information Technology on Employee Job Satisfaction, Organizational Change on Employee Job Satisfaction and lastly Organizational Learning on Employee Job Satisfaction.

“Currently, the company is experiencing many challenges in macro conditions in the world of operations. It is also undeniable that the era of the industrial revolution 4.0 also had an effect on the business world," he explained.

In addition, he added, the existence of the era of disruption will of course result in companies having to survive to maintain their competitiveness. According to Bakir, these factors are supporting changes for each company.

The sample data consisted of 207 employee respondents at PT Pupuk Kaltim who were selected by proportional stratified random sampling and were analyzed using the Structural Equation Model (SEM) with WarpPLS.

"The results of testing the structural model show that Transformational Leadership has a significant effect on Organizational Learning and Organizational Change. In addition, Organizational Learning has a significant effect on Organizational Change. Information Technology has a significant effect on Organizational Learning, Organizational Change and Employee Job Satisfaction. Furthermore, Organizational Change and Organizational Learning also have a significant effect on Employee Job Satisfaction. However, Transformational Leadership has no significant effect on Employee Job Satisfaction," said Bakir. Significant results are measured from the percentage level of more than 5%.

According to him, the findings in this study have implications that Organizational Change can work well if it pays attention to the factors of Transformational Leadership, Information Technology and Organizational Learning. The high level of interaction between leaders and employees and the organizational learning process will encourage acceptance and sustainability of Organizational Change so that it will ultimately increase Employee Job Satisfaction.

The Dissertation Session which took place in Building A FIA UB, 4th floor, invited external examiners from Jember State University, namely Prof. Dr. Andi Sukarso, M.Sm; and the University of Indonesia, namely Prof. Dr. Martani Husaini, M.BA. The examiners from Brawijaya University, including Prof. Eko Ganis Sukoharsono, SE, M.Com; Muhammad Iqbal, S.Sos., M.IB.. D.BA; Tri Wulida Afrianty, M.Si., MHRN., Ph.D.; and Prof. Dr. Endang Siti Astuti, M.Sc. In addition, the promoters were also present, including Prof. Dr. Umar Nimran, MA; Dr. Kusdi Raharjo, DEA.; and Dr. Hamidah Nayati Utami, M.Sc.
