International Guest Lecture for the Department of Business Administration, Discussing Sustainable Business

Another International Guest Lecture was held by the Department of Business Administration, Faculty of Administrative Sciences, Universitas Brawijaya (FIA UB), Monday (18/9). With the theme "Business and Sustainability“, present as the main speaker Dr. Salmi Mohd Isa, expert Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) from Universiti Sains Malaysia. Meanwhile, Lecturer in the Department of Business Administration Muhammad Kholid Mawardi PhD was lined up as the second speaker.

In his opening remarks, the Dean of FIA UB Prof. Dr. Bambang Supriyono MS expressed his appreciation for holding this guest lecture. As a major that has taken a step towards Asia's competitiveness, it is only fitting that the events held are of an international level. "As UB's vision is to embrace competitiveness at the Asian level in 2020, it is appropriate for us as an institution under UB to strive to realize this vision. One of them is by holding guest lectures as well as student and lecturer exchanges with foreign campuses such as Universiti Sains Malaysia," explained the Dean.

Meanwhile, Dr Salmi Mohd Isa explained the principles sustainability leadership which must be held by all public and private companies. Principle “3Ps: People, Profit, Planet” Care must be taken so that the company does not forget its social responsibility and does not solely pursue profits. "A sustainable company must also pay attention to human development and nature conservation so that the results of their business can be enjoyed by their children and grandchildren in the future," said Salmi, who delivered material in English and Malay.
