Implementation of Simulation of Use of Light Fire Extinguisher (APAR)
Malang, May 14, 2025 – In an effort to strengthen the work safety system and preparedness for potential fires and disasters, the Faculty of Administrative Sciences, Brawijaya University (FIA UB) held a socialization and simulation activity on the use of Light Fire Extinguishers (APAR) in the Building E environment. This activity involved officers from the Technical Implementation Unit (UPT), cleaning staff (Cleaning Service), and education staff (tendik) as the main participants.
This activity is part of FIA UB's commitment to implementing the principles of Occupational Safety, Health, and Environment (K3L) which aims to create a safe, responsive, and sustainable campus. The socialization is focused on increasing understanding of potential fire hazards in the work environment as well as basic skills in initial fire handling using APAR.
Field simulations are conducted to provide participants with direct experience in handling fire sources with proper and safe techniques. Participants are trained to recognize types of APAR, techniques for holding and directing the tool, and effective usage procedures according to safety standards.
Interestingly, this simulation not only focuses on the use of APAR, but also integrates evacuation simulation with emergency scenarios. In this scenario, UPT and CS officers play an important role as the initial response team, tasked with securing evacuation routes, directing the academic community to safe gathering points, and ensuring that no campus residents are left behind in vulnerable areas.
FIA UB is committed to continuing to build a safe and alert campus ecosystem by providing ongoing training, maintaining safety equipment, and strengthening cross-unit coordination in dealing with potential risks. With activities like this, it is hoped that all academicians have collective awareness and shared responsibility in maintaining the safety and order of the campus environment.
