In the holding of regional head elections (pilkada) or general elections (pemilu) in Indonesia, money politics is still widely open. That was what Pius Lustrilanang said while waiting for the announcement of the graduation of his dissertation to the media crew. The dissertation entitled Application of Public Leadership in Organizing Direct Pilkada: A Study on the Direct Election of the Governor of DKI Jakarta in 2017 was held behind closed doors in Building A, Faculty of Administrative Sciences (FIA) Universitas Brawijaya (UB) on Saturday (29/9/2018).
"Fraud is everywhere and you can see it in plain view," explained the Deputy Chairman of Commission IV of the House of Representatives (DPR) of the Republic of Indonesia (RI) commission IV. He also conveyed some of the practices of money politics that took place in the 2017 DKI Jakarta Pilkada.
In practice, it is the volunteers who prevent this from happening so that the leader as now is elected, namely Anies Rasyid Baswedan, Ph.D. Furthermore, Pius explained that dirty political practices such as money politics has become commonplace in Indonesia. There needs to be a solution to find the cause immediately.
"I hope that this research can open people's eyes to leaders who are truly democratically elected, not because they win because the votes are bought. So that all stages of the election can be carried out correctly and according to the rules, "he hoped.
In Pius' dissertation, the examiners were also present Prof. Dr. Bambang Supriyono, MS (Dean of FIA UB), Anies Rasyid Baswedan, Ph.D (Governor of DKI Jakarta), Prof. Dr. Sangkala (Hasanuddin University (Chairman of the Indonesian Association of Public Administration - IAPA), Prof. Dr. Juli Andi Gani, MS (Promoter), Dr. Suryadi, MS (Co-Promoter), Dr. Tjahjanulin Domai, MS (Co-Promoter), Prof. Dr. Abdul Hakim (FIA UB), Dr. Siti Rochmah, M.Si (FIA UB), Dr. Bambang Santoso Haryono, MS (FIA UB) and Dr. Sarwono, MS (FIA UB).
