COMPARATIVE STUDY OF S1 TAXATION: “BRAWIJAYA'S TAXATION HOLIDAY TO BATAVIA”

Jakarta. FIA UB. The opportunity for an odd semester break is the right time to deepen the knowledge learned in class by going directly to the field and gaining knowledge from the experts. That was programmed by students who are members of the Bachelor of Taxation Study Program Student Association (Himaprodi), Department of Business Administration, on January 19-23 2014. This time, the purpose of the activity entitled “Comparative Study: Brawijaya's Tax Holiday to Batavia” is to visit the Directorate General of Taxes (DJP), Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia, and Danny Darussalam Tax Research & Training Center in Jakarta.

There were 42 cross-generation Bachelor of Taxation study programs who participated in this activity and were accompanied by Aulia Luqman Aziz, SS, S.Pd., M.Pd, a lecturer at the Faculty of Administrative Sciences. Even though they were affected by the floods that were hitting Jakarta in the middle of the trip, the group got a lot of useful knowledge for future academic life from the two destination institutions.

At DGT, the group was welcomed by Rahmad, coordinator of DGT's public relations staff, and his team who immediately presented various interesting information about taxation in Indonesia. This man from Surabaya said that the potential for state revenue from taxes is actually very large. If every citizen who is classified as a taxpayer is truly obedient in paying his taxes, there is no doubt that development in Indonesia will proceed rapidly. Therefore, Rahmad invited students to participate in making taxpayers aware of carrying out their obligations for a better Indonesia. According to him, now DGT is much better than a few years ago with the ongoing modernization process.

Meanwhile, the meeting with the two founders of the Danny Darussalam Tax Research & Training Center, namely Darussalam and Danny Septriadi, was no less interesting. He talked a lot about various tax problems in Indonesia. Armed with knowledge gained from studying in Europe, various books on taxation from around the world and related to it, and a deep love for the world of taxation, the two of them gave a lot of enlightenment to the entourage. According to him, there are many tax problems that can actually be resolved in other countries, but become long-winded and distorted when discussed at the tax court in Indonesia. In addition, he encouraged taxation study programs throughout Indonesia to encourage their students to conduct critical comparative studies of various government tax policies. Finally, both of them stated that they were ready if the FIA UB Tax Study Program intends to invite him to share with all assisted students in the form of seminars, guest lectures, or workshops.
