Independent Learning Training “English Discoveries Online” (EDO)

1FIA UB, Event Committee. As part of efforts to improve the quality of students, as well as commemorating the 53rd Anniversary of FIA UB, the Department of Business Administration, Faculty of Administrative Sciences, held an "Independent Learning Training"English Discoveries Online' (EDO)” on Friday, 18 October 2013. The training was actually a follow-up to the English language learning collaboration in on line between Brawijaya University and the International Testing Center (ITC) is intended for all new students.

2The event, which was divided into two sessions, was opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Administrative Sciences, Prof. Dr. Bambang Supriyono, MS. In his remarks, he encouraged students to make the best use of this facility, while promising to provide a special certificate for those who got the best grades. Apart from that, the Head of the Department of Business Administration, Prof. Dr. Endang Siti Astuti, in her speech emphasized the importance of having English proficiency as a plus for students for future work opportunities.

3Guided by the main speaker, Aulia Luqman Aziz, SS, S.Pd., M.Pd., who is also a lecturer in English at the Department of Business Administration, new students are trained step by step to access the website http://global.engdis. com/UB which is already available for free for them. In it, students can carry out various English learning activities independently, starting from improving basic skills such as Listening, Reading, speaking, And Writing, reading popular articles in English, learning typical English expressions, and interacting with fellow independent learners around the world.

The students who have opened access to the website seem enthusiastic in carrying out the various activities available. This can be seen from the recording of student activity which is monitored from a special account belonging to the speaker provided by ITC. (Committee/Lukman/SP/MFK)
