"We also carry out tax inclusion in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Culture (Kemendikbud). Later we want to make people aware from an early age regarding paying taxes," he explained.
In addition, the Ministry of Finance is also collaborating with the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI) regarding research for tax awareness for the community. Taxes are the largest income of the state, but the awareness of the population in Indonesia is relatively low. According to Sri Mulyani, out of 20 people with tax payer status, only one is aware of paying it.
"We have to hold a large online course for education related to tax inclusion," continued Sri Mulyani.
The seminar entitled Today's Heroes was held on Friday (9/11) in the Hall of Building A Faculty of Administrative Sciences (FIA) Universitas Brawijaya (UB). Apart from the tele-conference, the seminar was also attended by speakers directly from the Head of P2 Public Relations of the Directorate General of Taxes (DJP) Regional Office (Kanwil) III East Java, Eko Budiharsono and Head of UB's Bachelor of Taxation Study Program, Dr. Saparilla Worokinasih, S.Sos., M.Sc.
In line with the Minister of Finance, Eko explained that the series of Speaking Tax events aims to make people aware of the importance of tax inclusion, especially students who will have their own income.
"Later on, students will become the backbone of the country's development, one of which is the tax sector," added Eko.
In 2025, Indonesia will be rewarded with a demographic bonus. Explained by Saparilla, in 2025 there will be 751 TP3T of productive age occupying Indonesia.
"The challenge of higher education institutions is to ensure that their students are at the peak of productivity while still in college," he said.
