Socialization and Open Dialogue for Prospective Deans of FIA UB for the 2025–2030 Period

Malang, April 29, 2025 – Faculty of Administrative Sciences Universitas Brawijaya (FIA UB) held a Socialization and Open Dialogue activity with the Prospective Dean Candidates for the 2025–2030 leadership period. This activity took place on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at the 4th Floor Hall of Building A FIA UB.

The event was attended by 177 participants, consisting of 156 offline participants and 21 online participants from a total of 206 invitations. This activity aims to provide a space for open information and active participation of the academic community in the democratic and accountable faculty leadership election process.

Socialization of Dean Election Regulations

The activity began with the socialization of the regulations for electing deans which refer to:

  • Government Regulation of the Republic of Indonesia Number 108 of 2021 regarding the State University of Brawijaya Legal Entity;

  • Regulation of the Chancellor of Brawijaya University Number 89 of 2022 regarding the Appointment and Dismissal of Deans and Vice Deans; and

  • Regulation of the Chancellor of Brawijaya University Number 62 of 2024 as an amendment to the previous Chancellor's Regulation.

In the explanation, it is emphasized that the dean election process is carried out through three main stages: selection of potential candidates, consideration of candidates by the Faculty Academic Senate (SAF), and appointment by the Chancellor based on the results of the fit and proper test.

This was also emphasized in the question and answer session when Prof. Dr. Drs. Kusdi, DEA asked about the mechanism for considering dean candidates by SAF, and was answered by Haru Permadi, SH, MH, that the deliberation system is the main basis as regulated in Article 7 of the Chancellor's Regulation Number 89 of 2022.

Presentation of Vision, Mission, and Work Program of Prospective Dean Candidates

The four prospective dean candidates who have met the requirements and presented their vision, mission and work programs in this forum are:

  1. Prof. Dr. Hamidah Nayati Utami, S.Sos., M.Si.

  2. Prof. Drs. Andy Fefta Wijaya, MDA., Ph.D.

  3. Mukhamad Kholid Mawardi, S.Sos., M.AB., Ph.D.

  4. Mohammad Iqbal, S. Sos., MIB., DBA.

All prospective candidates conveyed strategic ideas related to increasing internationalization, strengthening laboratories and academic facilities, improving fair and inclusive governance, and data management to support lecturers' career development.

Dialogue and Q&A Regarding Vision and Mission by Prospective Dean of FIA UB

 

Interactive Dialogue: Realizing FIA UB as a Shared Home

In the open dialogue session, several strategic issues discussed included:

  • Efforts to support the internationalization of the faculty through strengthening research, publications, and international networks.

  • Optimizing the role of laboratories and academic support work units.

  • Strategy for improving fair and transparent governance.

  • Support for lecturer career development through an integrated data management system.

  • Commitment to making FIA an inclusive and collaborative shared home for the entire academic community.

The four prospective dean candidates generally emphasized the importance of cross-unit collaboration, active participation of all faculty elements, and communicative and visionary leadership to face future challenges.

By holding this activity, FIA UB confirms its commitment to implementing a democratic process in selecting faculty leaders who will bring a vision of academic progress, superior governance, and an increasingly global reputation.
