The Library Science Study Program, Faculty of Administrative Sciences, Universitas Brawijaya is committed to producing graduates who have a librarianship, nationalist spirit and are able to integrate divine, human and environmental awareness in their personalities. In addition to aiming to create innovation results and collaborative knowledge creation through education and teaching, research and community service in responding to the development of the knowledge-based society era.

In 2014, operational permits and study program implementation permits were issued with the Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia No. 595/E/O/2014. The Faculty of Administrative Science then determines the organizational structure of the Library Science Study Program with Dr. Ratih Nur Pratiwi, M.Si, assisted by Secretary Niken Lastiti VA, S.Sos, M.AP until the end of 2017. In 2015 the Library Science Study Program, Faculty of Administrative Sciences, Universitas Brawijaya has received A accreditation from the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education ( BAN-PT) for the period 2015 – 2020. In particular, the accreditation value listed in the SK number 972/SK/BAN-PT/Akred/S/IX/2015 was successfully achieved the first time it was accredited by BAN-PT and again received Accreditation A which is valid for 2020-2025 based on Decree number 5247/SK/Ak-PPJ/S/IX/2020. At the beginning of 2018 the Faculty of Administrative Sciences then established an organizational structure for the Library Science Study Program with Chair Dr. Muhammad Shobaruddin, MA, and Secretary Muhammad Rosyihan Hendrawan, SIP., M.Hum. In June 2020 there was a reorganization of the study program so that Muhammad Rosyihan Hendrawan, SIP., M.Hum was continued by Nurjati Widodo, S.AP., M.AP. as Secretary of the Library Science Study Program FIA Brawijaya University.

The Library Science Study Program, Faculty of Administrative Sciences, Universitas Brawijaya is supported by highly qualified lecturers or teaching staff and curriculum adapted to scientific and technological developments. It is also supported by the role of active collaboration and cooperation with various scientific and professional associations, national and international institutions as a continuous quality assurance effort.

The FIA UB Library Science Study Program is a study program that is of interest to prospective new students. During the last 5 (five) years, this study program has attracted as many as 4,466 people. The entire number participated in the selection to become regular student candidates. Of the total participants who took part in the selection, 240 people were accepted as new students. Judging from the interest of graduates of Senior High School/Vocational High School (SMA/SMK) to enroll in the FIA UB Library Science Study Program for the last 3 (three) years it is very high. During the last 3 (three) years, participants in the selection to enter the Library Science Study Program of FIA UB totaled more than 800 participants. Even in the 2018/2019 academic year the number of participants in the selection reached 1,362 participants. Meanwhile, only 50 people passed the selection. For example, the number of applicants who took part in the selection at the FIA UB Library Science Study Program for the 2016/2017 Academic Year was 897 people took part in the selection and only 50 people were accepted. then the 2017/2018 Academic Year increased to 965 people and 49 people were accepted. Then for the 2018/2019 Academic Year, 1362 people took part in the selection at the FIA UB Library Science Study Program and 50 people were accepted.

In terms of obtaining the minimum GPA achieved by students in the FIA UB Library Science Study Program, it reaches 3.30. While the highest GPA achieved by students is 3.98. In addition, the implementation of the teaching and learning process (PBM) in each lecture room is supported by multimedia equipment and hotspot facilities that are very good and easy to access. The teaching and learning process of the FIA UB Library Science Study Program is also supported by a number of human resources (lecturers) who have been certified and are very adequate in terms of quality and quantity, there are 15 permanent lecturers so that the ratio of lecturers and students to the FIA UB Library Science Study Program.

In order to maintain the quality and suitability of the curriculum with market needs, a review and revision of the curriculum is carried out every 4 (four) years by involving stakeholders. Updating the curriculum always takes into account related scientific advances and benchmarks with well-known universities in the country and abroad. Providing facilities and infrastructure for the implementation of education in the FIA UB Library Science Study Program, in the form of lecture halls, laboratories, galleries/museums, record centers, libraries, leadership rooms, lecturer waiting rooms, secretariat rooms, leadership rooms, final assignment session, a very spacious computer room, and equipped with adequate facilities such as lecture halls equipped with LED TVs, LCD projectors, white boards, fire extinguishers, and air conditioning.
