INITIATION OF INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION FOR CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT

Malang, November 2023 – In the framework of the 2023 Dosen Berkarya (DOKAR) activities, on November 1 and 2 2023, the Library Science Study Program, at the Faculty of Administrative Sciences, Brawijaya University (PSIP FIA UB) has taken important steps towards promising international collaboration with Library and Information Science Department, Sungkyunkwan University (LIS SKKU) South Korea. This activity involves a number of key figures from both universities and aims to increase capacity in the field of education and develop study programs in the field of library science.

Tim delegasi dari PSISP FIA UB yang terlibat dalam kegiatan pengajuan Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) ini adalah Dr. Farida Nurani, S.Sos., M.Si selaku Ketua Program Studi, Endry Putra, S.I.Kom., M.I.Kom selaku Sekretaris Program Studi, dan Dr. Drs. M. Shobaruddin, MA – Dosen Senior PSIP FIA UB. Selain itu beberapa pejabat fakultas seperti Dekan FIA UB dan Ketua Departemen Administrasi Publik FIA UB juga turut hadir dalam kegiatan ini.

The arrival of the PSIP FIA UB collaboration initiation team was welcomed by the SKKU academic community, including Youngseek Kim, Ph.D as Head of the SKKU LIS Department, and Prof. Wonsik Jeff Kim, Ph.D is a renowned scientist in the fields of Library Science, Social Humanities and Liberal Arts. This collaboration initiation meeting was held at the main campus of Sungkyungkwan University, Seoul, South Korea.

This MoA discussion covers various initiatives designed to provide benefits for both parties, including joint curriculum preparation, student exchanges, joint research, seminars and joint conferences, as well as various other possible academic and non-academic activities that can support the improvement of the teaching and learning experience of the community. academics on both sides. On one occasion, Prof. Jeff said: "To be able to develop a good curriculum and course modules for students, good quality human resources are also needed. "This can start from the selection process for teaching staff in each department."

Apart from that, Dr. Farida Nurani said, “We are very enthusiastic about the potential of this collaboration. This is an important step in improving the reputation and quality of education and research in the field of library science at both universities.”

This MoA application process is the initial stage in a series of steps that will allow the two universities to be more in-depth and useful. There are great hopes for this collaboration which will bring even greater benefits in the development of library science and also the development of human resources. (EP)
