About the Program

The Master of Public Administration Program at the Jakarta Campus (MAP Jakarta Campus) is a postgraduate program designed to address public governance challenges in a dynamic global era. This program reflects Universitas Brawijaya’s commitment to producing highly qualified, adaptive, and professional human resources in the field of public administration, grounded in a global governance approach.

As an extension of the well-established Master of Public Administration Program at the Malang Campus, the Jakarta Campus maintains equally strong academic standards while strengthening its relevance within Jakarta’s strategic context as the center of government, policymaking, and international networks. This makes the program particularly suitable for practitioners, government officials, and academics seeking to enhance their competencies in public policy and governance.

The curriculum integrates theory and practice through an Outcome-Based Education (OBE) approach, emphasizing policy analysis skills, evidence-based research, and strategic decision-making. Graduates are expected to serve as public administrators, policy consultants, and research managers who are responsive to local, national, and global challenges.

The Jakarta Campus of the MAP Study Program has several strategic strengths that distinguish it from similar programs, both nationally and internationally:

    The program promotes a transdisciplinary approach grounded in global governance, addressing the complexities of public governance across sectors and countries, while remaining relevant to the dynamics of public policy in Indonesia.

    The curriculum has been developed through comparisons with leading programs such as UI, UGM, UNPAD, as well as international institutions (ANU, NUS, GRIPS, Boston University, Victoria University, Manchester University, SKKU, Burapha University), thereby achieving competitive and globally oriented academic standards.

    The curriculum structure balances theoretical understanding with practical application in public policy, featuring flagship courses such as Global Governance and Advanced Policy Analysis, enabling students to apply concepts in real-world contexts.

Teaching and Learning Mechanism

    1. The learning system adopts an Outcome-Based Education (OBE) approach.The

Application Procedure

Prospective applicants to the Master’s Program at the Faculty of Administrative Science, Universitas Brawijaya must complete the online registration through the website: https://selma.ub.ac.id/ and fulfill the following administrative requirements:

  1. A certified copy of a Bachelor’s Degree (S1/DIV) diploma
  2. A certified copy of the academic transcript (minimum GPA of 3.00 on a 4.00 scale)
  3. Two letters of recommendation from individuals who can assess the applicant’s academic capability
  4. Academic/scientific publications after completing undergraduate studies (if any)
  5. Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  6. Medical certificate
  7. Letter of assignment/permission from employer (for employed applicants), stating that the applicant is released from official duties
  8. Recent color passport photos (4 copies, size 4×6 cm, with blue background)
  9. Official statement letter from the study funding sponsor
  10. A copy of TPA OTO-BAPPENAS certificate (minimum score: 480) and TOEFL ITP certificate (minimum score: 480) from institutions recognized by the Master’s Program of FIA UB. Applicants who do not yet have these certificates may fulfill this requirement after being accepted (further provisions will apply)
  11. A copy of a valid ID card (KTP)
  12. For transfer students, in addition to requirements 1–11, a legalized Master’s (S2) transcript must be included (for applicants submitting via email, documents can be sent by post or delivered directly to the Master’s Program of FIA UB)
