Malang, East Java – Wednesday (8/5/2024), became a historic day for the Faculty of Administrative Sciences, Universitas Brawijaya (FIA UB) which succeeded in achieving an important milestone in the world of international education by receiving an accreditation certificate from the International Accreditation Council for Business Education (IACBE) based in the United States. This achievement is the first time for a university in Indonesia, marking international recognition of the quality of education provided to FIA UB, especially in the Department of Business Administration which manages four study programs: Bachelor of Business Administration Program, Bachelor of Taxation Program, Bachelor of Tourism Program, and Master of Business Administration Program.
The process to obtain this accreditation took about three years, involving hard work and dedication from the entire team at FIA UB. This effort includes continuous improvement in academic processes, quality assurance, and strengthening institutional capacity to meet international standards set by IACBE.
The certificate was presented directly by the Interim President of IACBE, Archish “Arch” Maharaja, and the Director of IACBE Accreditation, Laurie Yates, to the Dean of FIA UB, Prof. Drs. Andy Fefta Wijaya, MDA., Ph.D at Framingham State University, who was accompanied by Dr. Nur Imamah, Ph.D, Head of the Department of Business Administration, and Agung Nugroho Luthfi Imam Fahrudi, Ph.D, Head of the IACBE FIA UB Accreditation Team. The certificate was received with great pride, where Maharaja in his speech stated that this achievement opens wider doors for FIA UB to join the network of IACBE-accredited universities around the world. “You are now part of our big family,” said Maharaja, emphasizing IACBE’s commitment to support FIA UB in developing broader international cooperation.
Prof. Drs. Andy Fefta Wijaya, MDA., Ph.D expressed his gratitude and pride for the achievement. He emphasized that the IACBE certification is not only a recognition, but also a great opportunity to improve the quality of education and expand international collaboration, especially in terms of student and lecturer exchanges, as well as joint research. "With this accreditation, our opportunities to carry out student and lecturer exchanges, research collaborations, and various other academic activities within the IACBE network are increasingly wide open," he said.
The achievement of the IACBE certificate provides new momentum for FIA UB in developing superior programs such as Double Degree and Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards (IISMA), which are expected to provide valuable international learning experiences for FIA UB students and lecturers. With various achievements and international cooperation that continues to be carried out, FIA UB is increasingly strengthening its position as one of the leading faculties in Indonesia that is able to compete in the global arena.
On this very valuable occasion, the delegation of the Faculty of Administrative Sciences, Brawijaya University (FIA UB) consisting of Prof. Dr. Andy Fefta Wijaya, MDA., Ph.D as Dean, Dr. Nur Imamah, Ph.D as Head of the Department of Business Administration, and Agung Nugroho Luthfi Imam Fahrudi, Ph.D as Head of the IACBE FIA UB Accreditation Team, has conducted a working visit to three leading universities in the United States.
On Tuesday (7/5/2024), the delegation explored opportunities for collaboration with Boston University, which was then followed by a meeting at Framingham University on Wednesday (8/5/2024), and New York University (NYU) on Friday, (10/5/2024). In order to strengthen academic relations and improve the quality of education, several areas of collaboration discussed included lecturer and student exchange programs, collaboration in joint research and publications, and the development of dual degree programs.
This strategic step is expected to open up new opportunities for FIA UB in developing international networks and improving its academic reputation on the global stage.
