Changed The Curriculum Following The Updated Era, Tourism Program Held National Workshop of Curriculum Arrangement
The core of a study program is the curriculum, and a good curriculum should fit the requirements in the market so that it could result in high graduation levels – at least for six months. If not, then the program will be terminated. That was part of the speech from the rector of Brawijaya University Prof. Dr. Ir. Mohammad Bisri when attending the Seminar and National Workshop of “The Development of Tourism Education Paradigm and Arrangement of Tourism Curriculum based on KKNI”. The event held by the Tourism Program of FIA B in Thursday (1/15) was held in the Hall of 4th Floor in FIA UB.
Prof. Bisri expressed his gratitude for the authentication of organizing 22 study programs in Brawijaya University, and one of which is Tourism Program. The next duty is soon to submit accreditation files well for the convenience of the student candidates. “Moreover, The Minister has stated in the mass media that the program that was not accredited will be terminated,” add The Professor of Technic Faculty while showing the clipped newspaper that featured the news.
Meanwhile, The Head of Coordinator Yusri Abdillah stated that this event was one of the requirements that must be fulfilled to arrange the study program accreditation, especially related with the arrangement of curriculum according to the trend in the tourism nowadays. “That’s why we invited representation from other academics and practitioners in field of tourism so that we could earn accurate suggestions to compose this program curriculum,” add the Japanese graduated doctor that now serves as the head of Tourism Program.
As the main speak persons in that event are Akhyaruddin Jusuf (Director of Special Needs Tourism Development, Ministry of Tourism RI), Prof. Azril Azahari (Head of Association of Indonesian Tourism Pundit), Sutomo Djahuri (Professional Certification Institution), and Dr. Kusdi Rahardjo (Senior Researcher of Business Administration FIA UB). Meanwhile, the event was attended by some academic representations and practitioners from University of Gadjah Mada, Culture and Tourism Agency in Malang, some notable hotels in Malang, Association of Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park, and Museum of Transportation Tourism Park.
