The goverment of Indonesia uses marine protected areas ( MPAs) as a tool for marine resources management. One such is the Taman Perairan Gili Meno, Ayer, Trawangan ( TWP Gili Matra) in West Nusa Tenggara, which has been managed by the central goverment since 1993 and is mainly focused on the promotion of tourism promotion and the conservation of biodiversity.
